The
University of Colorado at Boulder has contracted a 45,000 GSF addition
to the Laboratory for Space Technology Research (LSTR), which will
alleviate space restrictions for each of the four divisions of the lab:
Engineering, Mission Operations and Information Systems, Science, and
Administration. The addition will house expanded engineering and science
facilities associated with recently received NASA space research grants.
The
laboratories will include cleanrooms for assembling new satellite
components, testing and quality control labs and clean, high-bay
assembly areas and compose approximately one-third of the building
space. The remaining two-thirds of the building will be used for
offices and computer labs.
According
to the university, as part of its commitment to high quality, energy-
and water-efficient buildings, it plans to “exceed ASHRAE (American
Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Engineers)
Standard 90 for this facility upgrade.” |
